We grind it out. Our grinder chews the stump down to about 4–6 inches below ground level and turns it into mulch — it's faster, cleaner, and far less disruptive to your yard than digging the entire root ball out with an excavator. For the vast majority of yards, grinding is exactly what you want.
How much does it cost to grind a stump?
We price by the stump's diameter and how tough the access is: $4 per inch for easy front-yard stumps, $5 per inch for backyard access, and $6 per inch when there are rocks, big roots, or tight access — with a $150 minimum. Do you clean up the mess afterward?
Yes — and the standard clean-up is included. We rake the mulch back into the hole and level it, so you're left with a tidy, flat spot. If you'd rather we haul the mulch off site, that's an add-on ($50–$200 depending on weight), and we can bring in topsoil to fill the spot if you'd like.
Will grinding damage my lawn or sprinklers?
We take real care with your property and work around sprinkler heads, utilities, and landscaping. Let us know where anything is buried and we'll steer clear. Any minor disturbance is raked smooth before we leave.
How soon can you come out?

Can I plant grass where the stump was?
Yep. Once we grind the stump down and level the spot, it's ready for you to seed, sod, or landscape over whenever you like. If you'd like a clean base to start from, we can fill the hole with topsoil as an add-on.
